|   | Cristinerose Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition by Korean artist Hyun-Mi Yoo.
|   | The exhibition revolves around the concept of the puzzle and how it relates to the unconscious and the dream. The puzzle, an intricate network of many pieces, relies on the relationship between each piece to form a whole. In Hyun-Mi Yoo's work, the puzzle becomes a symbol of the logic of the unconscious and of the absence of memory.
|   | The works in the exhibition are an ensemble of everyday objects, such as windows, mirrors, wells or staircases, formed with blank puzzle pieces. The pieces are made of an array of materials, including paper, wood, glass, and mirror. These objects symbolize the connection between consciousness and unconsciousness, between reality and dream. They reflect the logical structure of the unconscious mind as objects or images that have been dismantled and re-assembled as puzzles, but without the picture that would normally be associated with them.
|   | Hyun-Mi Yoo lives between Soeul and New York. Recently, she had a one-person show at Kuhmo Museum of Art in Seoul, Korea.
