Laurent Elie Badessi Selected Works     Biography    Press Release

Laurent Elie Badessi was born in France in 1964. He belongs to a family of three generations of photographers, which enabled him to explore the art and techniques of photography from an early age.

After studying communications and photography, Badessi wrote an M.A. thesis entitled Ethnological Fashion Photography at the University of Paris VII. For this project he was awarded first prize in the 1988 Fuji Color Adventure Grant. As a result, he spent two months in Niger, where he photographed indigenous peoples wearing clothing designed by Western couturiers and master designers.

From 1991 Badessi traveled the world before settling down in New York in 1995, where he currently lives. His work appears regularly in internationally recognized magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, Black + White, and is part of several highly regarded photography collections.

Since the 1990s, Badessi has focused his fine art photography on capturing the magic and subtleties of the human form, not hesitating to frequently travel to isolated places to work with the local population.
